Creating Drafts For Your Post Titles

The blog post title is one of the most important elements that you have to pay attention to when writing for your blog. This fact cannot be emphasized enough. I have said it before and I will say it again – writing effective titles is not that easy. I would have to admit (again) that I still find myself struggling with this point every now and then. Even the most seasoned of writers will tell you that coming up with a title is not a clear cut thing.

As such, it is quite crucial that you pay more attention to your title than you might think you need to. Let me ask you a question – how do you write your blog post titles? If you are like many bloggers, you probably think of an idea for the body, think of a title, write the body, and then leave it at that. There is nothing wrong with this – it works.

However, I think that you can do better if you take things one step further. That is, after writing your blog post body, why not take another look at your title and see if you can make it even better?

I cannot count the times that I have had to do this – not because I intended to, but because I saw the need to. Many times, I would have the title ready and then after writing the post itself, I would realize that the title was not as descriptive or as attractive as it could be. Sometimes, the body’s content would change a bit as well.

So here’s my tip for the day – consider your initial title as a draft and then re-work that draft once you’re done with the body.
