For some bloggers, designing the website can be the simplest part of the process. It’s not unusual for someone to think of a great niche blog idea, create a great site . . . and then sit back and think, “Now what do I write about?” Fortunately, there are some simple strategies for finding a topics for your blog, whatever your blog is about. Here are some ways you can go about finding topic ideas for your niche blog:

“Dummies” books. The “Dummies” book series is a great place to look for topics for your niche blog, because these books are generally jam-packed full of information covering every aspect imaginable of a subject. What’s more is you can find a Dummies book on virtually any and every topic you can imagine.

Google Reader. Use this Google feature to find a variety of blogs in any niche. Simply search for the subject you are interested in, then choose blogs that are similar to yours. The point is NOT to steal content or copy someone else’s ideas; rather, gauging the content of other blogs you find via Google Reader is a great way to find ideas that you haven’t yet thought of and write to put your own spin on them.

Google Alerts. This is another Google service that can be very helpful. Simply tell Google what subjects you are interested in following, and Google will alert you as to what people are posting about in relation to that subject. This is a great way to identify trending topics so that you can stay ahead of the blogging game.

Blog comments. Your blog itself is actually a great source of topic ideas. Any time one of your blog readers poses a question to you in the comments section, it’s a chance for you to take the idea and run with it. Even more, you know you are providing information that your readers want and need.

Reader resources. If you want to know what topics your readers might like, then one of the best things you can do is to ask your readers. You can even make it fun for them, in the form of a contest or game. Post a blog entry requesting your readers’ most creative ideas, and you’ll be amazed at what they can come up with, especially when there is a prize on the other end.

Having a niche blog can be a great joy . . . but it can also be a headache if you find yourself stressing over what to post next. If you want to provide your readers with useful and entertaining blog content, then scour these sources for great topic ideas for your niche blog.
