Related Posts Links: Make Your Blog More User Friendly

Posted by Jimmy as Blog Tutorial, Tips

What are related posts links? These are basically links found at the end of each of your blog entries which are similar to the topic featured in that entry. So for example, for this entry about making blogs more user friendly, you should find some links at the bottom of the entry to other blog posts tackling a similar topic.

So why are related posts links important? Think about it, why do people read your blog? How do readers find your blog in the first place? The main reason I can come up with is that they are searching for a specific topic. More often than not, this is how readers stumble upon new blogs. They do a search based on a specific key phrase and then come across a relevant blog.

Now if they are particularly interested in that topic, I am sure that they would appreciate finding other entries dealing with the same topic. This would make it easier for them to find other posts to read without having to manually search your blog. On your part, it would also increase the readers per page on your stats. It works both ways and helps everyone out, doesn’t it?

This is actually easy to do – especially with Wordpress. You can generate a list of related blog posts automatically in this platform. The system takes note of the key words and then displays links to the related posts. There are also plug ins which you can download to give you more control as to what is displayed in the related posts section.
