Which Social Network Do You Use?

Posted by Jimmy as Blog Tutorial, Promotion, Tips

I don’t know if you have heard of using social web sites for blogging purposes before. I sure have but I didn’t really pay much attention to them. I mean, I barely check my own accounts in various social web sites. It used to be that they were not that many but now, you have Facebook, MySpace, Multiply, and more! How can you expect one to keep track of all of them? Apparently, you can and the better you can do this, the better for your blog!

I was reading up on social networks and their implications in blogging. The best thing that I can see here is exposure. More often than not, when one starts a blog, he wants as many people as possible to see and read his blog. I have to admit that there are some who blog for themselves alone but that breed is far and few in between these days. So anyway, if you want to reach out to as many people as possible, using social networks is one of the best ways to do this.

In what way can you use a social network to promote your blog? Let us focus on one – say Facebook. If you have a lot of contacts on Facebook, you can share links in your status message or profile. You can change these links as often as you want to. I think that one good way would be to post a link to an excellent post every now and then. This way, your friends will not be bombarded by links all the time. Each time you post a link, they can be sure to be in for an excellent read. As for you, you would get more visits.

So what social network do you use? Why not promote your blog in it?

For me it’s Twitter. But I am not promoting it right now. I just follow to some blogs that I like then followers are increasing, and I tweet at least once a day sharing some blog posts from my blog as well as from other blogs that I admire.

    Thanks!

    I use the following:

Friends, family, close business colleagues – Facebook – love the widgets.

LinkedIn – business, prospects, newsletter subscribers – this is where most of my business efforts are. Love the exposure Answers gives you.

Ning – tried it, too many people have fatigue to get involved.

Twitter – aggressively use it, but am not prolific or mundane drivel spammer.

Xing – for my global clientèle. If you sell globally, you’d better be here to.

I have clients who also use, Plaxo, Namyz, and several others, but I invest my time mainly in Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter.

In fact go to my blog click my badges on the right side bar to connect with me now at http://www.mccordweb.com/weblogs/ See you online there!

My favorite social network is digg. I like the overall design of this website and how it’s setup.
