Post-dated Entries in Blogger

Posted by Guru as Blogging Tools, Tips Post dating blog posts is nothing new to Wordpress users but bloggers who use Blogger will be happy to know that they can now post date their blog entries. The ability to post date entries (or rather lack of ability) has been one of my frustrations about Blogger. I have always used Blogger for my personal blog and one of my pet peeves has always been this and also the fact that I can not put a password to some posts (which means I end up just deleting the draft or simply not publishing it). Anyway here's how you can ...

Are You A Blogging Addict? (Part 2)

Posted by Jimmy as Blog Tutorials News, Blogging Tools, Opinion, Software and Widgets, Tips In the last post, we took a look at something that a blogging “addict” may obsess about – the number of subscribers. Well, here’s another thing that someone with an intense desire for blogging can obsess about – statistics. To be honest, I have gone through this phase a couple of times in my blogging life. Even if I would like to think that I have overcome this obsession, I still find myself checking my blog stats a little more than I should. Ask yourself this question – how many times do you spend checking your ...

Gadgets A Blogger Needz Part 2

Posted by BloggurlNeedzRehab as Blogging Tools When it comes to tools and gadgets needed to keep a blogger happily typing away, one needs to look no further than the trusty all-in-one cellphone. Sometimes, we think that we may need all these tools: the Flip Video camera for vlogging, or a decent digicam like the Sony DSC series cams. But little do we realize that one trusty cellphone would be enough for your blogging, and even vlogging needs.

Domain Name Game

Posted by Guru as Hosting, Tips I was reading Jimmy's post on having your own domain. I agree that having your own domain is a sign that you take your blog seriously or at least value your blog enough to spend a little money on it so you won't have a .blogspot or .wordpress domain. In the post Jimmy said that choosing your own blog domain could be a tool for SEO because you can opt to have your primary keywords in your domain name. Aside from the keyword factor though having your own domain also has other long term benefits including: reputation - While having ...

Blogging IS Writing

Posted by Jaren as Blog Tutorial, Creating a Blog, Opinion, Submissions, Terminology, Tips, Writing Blogging is often taken as informal writing. While this may be true, it does not mean that it is okay for a blogger to disregard writing rules. It’s bad enough that Internet sources are not considered as scholarly, and it’s worse that there are sites that prove it right – because of poorly written articles. As a blogger, you should remember that you do have some responsibility on what you publish online and this is not only about content. If you want to keep a good blogging reputation, better start with the technicalities of writing. When writing your posts, it ...

Blog SEO: Keyword Tools (WordTracker)

Posted by Guru as Marketing and Search Optimization, SEO Features, Software and Widgets One of my all time favourite keyword tool to use is WordTracker. I used it before I even discovered Google Keyword Tool and continue to use it whenever I need a good analysis of keywords. Note though that when I talk about Wordtracker I am not referring to their Free Keyword Suggestion Toolbecause quite frankly that one sucks. It is good for giving you a list of alternative keywords but beyond that you will almost get nothing from it. Here's an example of what you'll get from the free keyword suggestion tool....

Wordpress Plug-ins

Posted by Guru as Marketing and Search Optimization, Plugins, Software Features, Software and Widgets If you blog using Wordpress and can't do something that you want done like adding Sphere-related content at the end of your blog posts you might be surprised to find out that there are already plug-ins available that make it happen. To find good Wordpress plug-ins all you need to do is search for “wordpress plug-ins” in Google and you'll find more than enough results to choose from. If you don't feel like having to click through pages and pages of sites that actually offer just a handful of plug-ins but a whole lot of ads go directly to ...

Blog Usability: Feeds

Posted by Guru as Blogging Tools, Syndication, Tips I have written about the importance of RSS and/or Atom feeds to blogs. By providing feeds you will not really be increasing the on-site usability of your blog but its overall usability. Regular blog visitors often prefer checking the contents of their favorite blogs using feed aggregators (i.e. Google Reader). The reason for this is very simple: it is a whole lot more efficient to check an RSS aggregator for blog updates than check each blog you like one by one. This is especially important to people who read blogs not just for liesure but to keep themselves updated with ...

Blogrolls and SEO

Posted by Guru as Blogging Tools, Linking, Marketing and Search Optimization, SEO Features When it comes to updating the blogroll, whether to add new blogs or delete old ones, many bloggers actually never come around to doing it often enough. The reason for this is simple, if you have lots of blogs you like managing your linklist can be a headache. It's one thing to subscribe through an RSS aggregator just to skim through blogs and never have to worry how many blogs you subscribe to (although you should also manage the feeds so that reading through subscriptions will be more efficient) and a completely different thing choosing how many and which blogs ...

    Is Your Blog W3C Compliant?

Last night I checked my personal blog’s code hoping I can proudly display the W3C Validated Button.
