Blog SEO: Keyword Tools (Google Keyword Tool)
Posted by Guru as Marketing and Search Optimization, SEO FeaturesOn my last post I discussed the importance of choosing the keywords with which you want to optimise your blog for. It IS however, pretty hard to choose which keywords you should use without any help. Thankfully there’s plenty of keyword tools available on the internet.
When using keyword tools though remember that you should use one that not only allows you to come up with a good list of relevant keywords and phrases but that would also help you determine which of those relevant keywords are likely to bring you more traffic. Here are a few of the best keyword tools to help you get started.
Google Keyword Tool – This is a great tool that allows you to get keywords suggestions either by providing your primary keyword/phrase, which you wish the tools to expand on, or by simply providing the URL of your site. It also present the results in a very organized manner since it groups/categorizes the keywords and allows you to view by category. However, the results are tailored for those interested in using Google AdWords so that if you simply want to use this for SEO you will be getting results that you don’t need. This should be no problem though since you can opt to hide information that are not relevant to you allowing you to focus on what’s important.
Note that the results are sorted by relevance but that it also shows the average volume search for the previous month and the long term average search. This is very useful in pinpointing which relevant results are actually being entered as search terms. After all, you don’t want to optimize for search terms that are relevant but that no one really searches for.

14|Mar|2009I often search and there are 1000’s of results displayed in the Approx Avg Search Volume column yet the data from the previous month is “Insufficient Data”.
This does not make logical senses to me as how can there be no search volume (Insufficient data) during previous months if there are 1000’s on an average month.
Do you know why.
