Three Blogging Gadgets

Posted by Brix as Blogging Tools

If you were to get electronic devices for blogging, get three basic types of gadgets:

  • A Laptop
  • A Digital Camera
  • A Internet capable cell Phone

Optionally, get a bluetooth connector to hook up your laptop and cellphone. Personally, I use these:

  • A Compaq Presario B1957TU - This small yet powerful laptop comes at only 1.79kg. It has Windows Vista Basic and is a Core Duo. I honestly would’ve preferred a Sony Vaio but that was way beyond my budget. Don’t get too small a laptop (they keyboard would be too small).
  • A Simple Canon PowerShot 3.2 Megapixel camera - a simple point and shoot camera. A Rebel XTi would be fine too if Iknew how to professionally use it. So far my little camera is ok.
  • Nokia E61 - Just the other day, I bought this phone to complete my collection. I’ve been hunting around for a decent cell phone and was looking at a Sony Ericsson website for one. Luckily a friend suddenly wanted to sell her phone. I checked it out and liked it. Two things I like about this phone - 3G and Bluetooth.

Just take pictures, upload them on your laptop, write articles related to the pictures, use your cellphone as a modem and connect to the Internet wherever you are. Mobile Blogging - you gotta love it.

Now if you sell items on your website/blog, you can pretty much do the same thing - take pictures, hook up up your digicam, laptop and cellphone, upload everything on the the net and boom! Simple online brochure.

I recently got one of those EVDO PC cards for my laptop, and it gives me high speed internet access anywhere the cell phone works. It’s pretty cool actually (click EVDO on my tagcloud in my sidebar if curious, but ask your cell phone provider if available in your neighborhood). I’ve been taking it to the beach all July and blogging at night in the gazebo .. Although, with the hot weather I get distracted and just go swimming and read my bloglines!~
