Do You Fear To Speak Your Mind?
Posted by Jimmy as Opinion, Tips, WritingThere is nothing to fear but fear itself. This is one of my favorite quotes, even if I am not so sure who said it first. I like how it gives me the courage to do what I want to do, knowing that at the end of the day, there is really nothing to fear. Why am I writing about this? It is simply because of the fact that I noticed that some bloggers are sometimes wary of speaking their mind when writing in their blogs.
Some people like to play on the safe side. They are afraid that they might be criticized by their readers and other bloggers. They are afraid that they might get a slew of negative comments. They are afraid of being made to look like a fool in writing – and for all the world to read. I know this because at times, I feel the same way.
Though the fear that is felt may be real, I think that it is something that you can actually overcome. Think about it, it is your blog, and you are free to write whatever you want as long as you can justify your point. More so, in writing your opinion, you cannot really be wrong. That is why it is called an opinion – you think what you think and believe what you believe. That is not to say that others should think and believe in the same ideas as yourself but you no one should be able to stop you about your belief.
The next time you feel this fear, forget about it. Just write and say what is on your mind.

30|Jun|2008“as long as you justify your point.”
That’s a good call. I think, if someone writes about something that is semi controversial - if they do so with a fair justification and in good taste, readers will respect them, even if they don’t agree with their sentiments. Nice post.

09|Oct|2008I get frustrated hearing that all obstacles can be overcome. Obstacles are a matter of God not a matter of fact. If we could all overcome our obstacles then there would be no failures, no trials and no lessons. No life.
