Tips For Marketing Yourself Online

The first thing that you need to consider when it comes to marketing yourself online is why you are marketing yourself online. Why you need to market who you are will have a lot to do with what you do for your marketing scheme. Most likely you’re marketing something you’ve created or something you do, not just your own face.

However, if you’re a model, you may just be marketing your own face. That’s why what it is about you that you’re marketing is just as important to consider when you start your online marketing plan. Here are some things to use, no matter what side of yourself you are marketing.

Your About Page

Take a cue from the great about pages on the internet and make sure you put your best face forward. You want people to know who you are, why you are the person to go to in your industry, and you definitely want to give them a face to go with your name. Make sure that photo is a professional one, not just some selfie.

Your about page needs to be detailed. But you don’t need to tell them about your childhood. You want all of the words to lead lead to your business, and why it is you are the best when it comes to that business.

Social Media

Everyone is on social media these days, and you need to have a page on their for both yourself and your business. If you are your business, you still want a separate page than just your main account. By having that page setup you can get actual “likes” and you don’t have to be friends with all of those people.

The keys to making social media work as a marketing tool is to update often, advertise when available, and make sure to respond quickly to comments and messages. The more fans you have, the more you can get. If you do contests, like through Facebook and Pinterest, you can also garner more followers.

Blogging

Many things you’ll read about blogging your business will tell you not to use your blog for self promotion. However, the whole idea of your blog is to get people to read it and want to buy what you’re selling. In a sense, you will be using it for some shameless self promotion, but you should do it in a more sensible way.

Do that by being entirely honest and detailed, and making sure that even in your self promotion your posts are still giving your reader something they can work with. Something like a tutorial on using one of your products can be useful. And always finish off your posts with a call to action, which gives them the next step, like contacting you for a consultation.
