On Writing Funny

This is perhaps one of the hardest things to do, don’t you think? There are people who are inherently funny and they translate this humor into their writing. Then there are those who are inherently funny but cannot carry on the humor when they write. There are those who are not funny in “real life” but can write with wit. So how do you write funny? More so, do you have to write funny for your blog?

To answer the second question first, I think that funny is a good thing. Remember, we want our readers to enjoy their reading experience. This will keep them coming back. But of course, if your blog has a serious topic, funny might not be the right tone all the time. Sometimes yes, but not as an overall tone.

Assuming that you casino pa natet need to be funny in your blog, how do you go about it?

To be honest, I do not have the best sense of humor in this world. Yet when I read about the essential elements of humor (courtesy of Dilbert.Blog), I thought, well I could do it. Yes, it is doable.

Here are the essential elements of humor:

Clever
Cute
Bizarre
Cruel
Naughty
Recognizable

In that post I am referring to, the author says that in order for a post to be funny, you need to have at least 2 of the elements mentioned above. That got me thinking – any 2 elements? Clever and cute sounds fine to me. Naughty and bizarre – maybe. I would say that recognizable and clever would be the best combination.

Which do you think is the best combination?
