Niche Blog Content: News Blogging

Posted by Jimmy as Blog Tutorial, Opinion, Tips, Writing

What do you think news blogging entails? Does it mean that you would have to write as a journalist does and present breaking news in your blog? If that thought worries you, you’ll be glad to know that when I say news blogging, I mean something else.

If you remember, we are talking about finding sources of content for your niche blog. Somewhere down the road, you might reach a stumbling block. You might temporarily run out of topics to write about. In order to avoid this, you have to have a variety of options when it comes to your content and one of them is news blogging.

Basically, news blogging is picking a specific news item – an article even – and then using parts of that in your post. What you can do is to get the most significant sentences or paragraph from the news article. Of course, you cannot stop there. You have to add your own perspective, voice out your opinion. If you wish, you can even merely use the topic and NOT quote the article – just do your own write up.

Some things to remember:

1. Always give credit where it is due. Link to your source. How would you like it if someone used your content – even if it’s not the whole post – in his own blog without acknowledging that it came from you?

2. Make sure that the news item that you feature is related to your niche. Otherwise, why would your readers be interested in that topic anyway?

Try this out – you’ll find how easy it is to come up with good content in this manner.
