Buttons add links and pizzazz to your blog

buttons for navigation

Links are awesome because you find ways to share your favorite reads and the blogs of your friends. Sometimes you might have such long blogrolls already. On the other hand, buttons might spice up your blog and also advertise what kind of sites you like visiting or what kinds of online services you are using and would like to share to the rest of the world. It’s quite easy, even if you are just new to blogging or being a webmaster.

Getting images for your buttons

There are some sites that recommend buttons that you could choose. For example, you have a comic strip called Two Lumps — a comic strip with two Russian Blues as main characters. If you’d like to use their small and simple button with mainly paw prints in the background and the text Two Lumps, you could choose that. Or you could have one with them drawn as well. Download the image you would like choose then upload it on your webhost or where you store images like Photobucket or My File Hut. Then when you make the link to the site, use the image instead of a link text. It would look something like this:
<a href=”http://www.twolumps.net”><img src=”http://www.url.com/folder/with/the/image.jpg”></a>
Just place that on your sidebar or where in the site you would like to put it.

Sharing your interests with the rest of the world

It is not difficult, right? Once you are used to this step, you could put up any buttons you would like. Some people advocate particular software through the use of buttons. Firefox is one of the commonly advocated applications through buttons. Other people also use buttons to link to e-commerce sites that they like or services like Bloglines (an RSS aggregator). If you would like to do the same, just follow the steps enumerated and there you go! You’ve got more pizzazz on your blog.
