Duplicate Contents

Duplicate Contents : it has its advantages it also has its share of disadvantages.

Duplicate contents and cross posts, it give us benefits such as cutting down our work to half, increased chances of our posts being read, and our favorite subject doubles or even triples our chances of earning money. I can’t lie, I’ve been doing some of this lately but I feel uneasy every time I do it. But the reasons we “copy” articles / posts is that it made an impact in our minds and we want to share it with other readers and hope that it affects them positively ( or negatively too ).

It has been a trend to bloggers that post on multiple blogs to do this kind of strategy but spammers have been doing this for years, sure it’s a quick way to get traffic but in the long run you might get penalized for it. Some reasons why some blogs have suffered in the recent Google updates is because of the duplicate contents. But of course, one or two duplicated contents / posts will not impact a blogs PR too much, it can still drag your ranking in the search results down. If Google finds two or three pages which have the same content it will only index the page that has the most authority.

It’s good for the big boys, but bad for us start up bloggers. It might be best to cut down on posting duplicate contents, it’s a best practice to make original, fresh article / content, but if you can’t help it, modify the article, or just get excerpts from that post and state the source.

Got this idea when my cousin, IM’ed me and told me about my cross posts and duplicate contents and that scared me a bit. I don’t want to get in trouble because I was playing hooky as it may seem. I just wanted to share my experiences…
